Gareth Proctor has worked with some of the world's finest musicians in some of the leading institutions throughout his musical education. He has studied with Simon Dinnigan, Mark Ashford and Mark Eden, and then Charles Ramirez at the Royal College of Music in London, gaining a degree and a post graduate diploma in advanced performance. Since then Gareth has also been able to work with Pavel Steidl in the Czech Republic.
Professionally he has had notable success giving performances in the U.K, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Czech Republic, Serbia and Montenegro. He has received several awards and accolades including 1st place in the Doris Newton Music Club Prize (U.K 2004) and 2nd Prize in the Guitar Art Summer Festival competition (Montenegro 2008). He was also placed among the top 50 artists and entertainers to come from North East England along with such names as Stan Laurel, Ridley Scott, Sting and Sir Thomas Allen.
As well as appearing as a soloist Gareth performs in a flute and guitar duo, a violin and guitar duo with his brother Steven and has given concerts with several orchestras playing as a soloist in works by Joaquin Rodrigo and Concerto No.1 by the English composer Stephen Dodgson.
Gareth is also a composer and arranger of new works for the guitar and is continually looking to expand the guitar repertoire, often giving performances of new transcriptions and original works for the guitar as a chamber and solo instrument.
